Eleanor Scott
August 11, 1940 - May 30, 2025

Eleanor Scott, a fiercely independent spirit and deeply loved soul, passed away peacefully on Friday, May 30, 2025 at the age of 84. Her life was a tapestry woven with adventure, resilience, and the unwavering warmth of her love for family and friends.
Eleanor, daughter of the late Charles Gladden and Grace Gladden, was born August 11, 1940 in Chattanooga, Tennessee. She lived a life guided by curiosity and strength. She was never one to sit still for long – whether exploring the world or embarking on spontaneous road trips. Eleanor’s suitcase was always ready. She saw travel not just as a hobby, but as a way to connect with people, cultures, and the beauty of the world. Eleanor enjoyed taking trips to the beach and riding her lawnmower. She also enjoyed listening to rock and roll.
To know Eleanor was to love her. She was the kind of person who made others feel seen and heard, who could brighten a room with her smile, laughter, and who lived with a rare mix of grace and grit. Her independence was a source of inspiration to many, and her determination and courage shaped the path she walked throughout her life.
Eleanor’s legacy is held in the hearts of those who knew her. She is remembered as a devoted mother, cherished grandmother, a loyal friend, and a woman who lived life fully and unapologetically. She believed in making memories with her stories – shared around the table over coffee, or during family vacations – which will be told for generations.  Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Hubert Junior Scott; one sister, Evelyn Weaver; four brothers, J.W. Gladden, E.C. Gladden, R.L. Gladden, and Fred Gladden.
Eleanor is survived by her loving family, including her sons, Fabian (Pamela) Scott, Gary (Stacey) Scott, and Tim (Rhonda) Scott; her daughter, Lisa Scott; one sister, Phylis Smith; one brother, Frank Gladden; 8 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; 3 great-great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; and an extended circle of friends who became family along the way.
