Elizabeth “Liz” Payne Swanson age 75, of Rossville, Georgia passed away on Monday, February 10, 2025, surrounded by her loving family. She had was raised in Varnell, Georgia and resided in Florida for twenty years until she moved to Rossville in 1997. Liz was of the Pentecostal Faith and enjoyed crafting, dancing and shopping. She loved outdoor activities in the sun such as flower gardening and fishing. Liz and her husband often went fishing on their boat both in Florida and in Georgia. Above all, her most cherished time was spent with her family.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Myrl “Stanley” Swanson; parents, Ranzie Payne and Viola Otting Payne; siblings, Buddy Payne, Doris Holmes, Zonnie Little, Sue Rogers, Dean Johnson, R. L. Payne, Patricia Screws, June Taylor, and Faye Stephens.
She is survived by her daughter, Shanda (Alan) Vann; fiancé, David Burtoft; brothers, Garlin (Gayle) Payne, Howell (Linda) Little; step daughter, Sharon (Don) Kidd; grandchildren, Michelina “Mickie” (William) Haas, Amanda (Jesse) Jones, Gabriel (Eden) Vann; great grandchildren, Elowen Luella Haas, Iverson, Brett, and Kaylyn Jones, as well as fifty-one nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends on Thursday from 11:00 am until the time of service at the funeral home. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, February 13, 2025, in the Wilson Funeral Homes Wallis – Stewart Chapel with Pastor Craig Westbrook officiating.
