Elva Nichols, age 84, resident of Ringgold, Georgia, passed away on Tuesday, September 16, 2025.
Mrs. Nichols, daughter of the late Lawrence Jefferson Tatum and Willie Mae Pullen Tatum, was born November 11, 1940 in Chatsworth, Georgia. She was a homemaker and Baptist by faith. Mrs. Nichols enjoyed bird watching and gardening. While at home, many would see her watching Hallmark, 700 Club, Joyce Meyer, or Atlanta Braves baseball on television. She also enjoyed listening to Southern Gospel music. The family remembers her as a loving mother and friend to everyone.
Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, Lawrence Hudon Tatum; her first husband, Gordon Lynn Hughes, and her second husband, Vick Nichols.
Mrs. Nichols is survived by two sons, Raymond (Cindy) Hughes and Brian Hughes; two sisters, Christine (Roger) Saulter and Rita Kirby; three grandchildren, Amy Lynn (Kevin) Payne, Nichole (John) Anthony, and Dustin Hughes; two great-grandchildren, Raegan Payne and Tyler Anthony; many other relatives and friends.
Funeral services will be held at Wilson Funeral Home Wallis-Stewart Chapel, 443 Boynton Drive, Ringgold, Georgia on Saturday, September 20, 2025, 1p.m. with Reverend Mark Smith officiating. Interment will follow at Anderson Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Friday, September 19, 2025 from 4-8 p.m. and also prior to the service on Saturday, September 20, 2025 from 11 a.m. till 1 p.m.
