Ernest Ray Posey, age 93, of Chickamauga, went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, October 21, 2025. He was born to the late Ernest Millard Posey and Ena Johnson Posey in Chattanooga, TN, was a lifelong resident of the Chattanooga area, and was of the Baptist faith.
Ray proudly served his country in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict and later retired from both Dupont and Marshall Mize Ford. He cherished his family deeply and valued every moment spent with them. Ray loved cheering on his Tennessee Vols on Saturdays in the fall. He was a loving and devoted husband, Daddy, Papaw, brother, and friend who will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
Those left to cherish his memory include his loving wife of 46 years, Kathy Lawrence Posey; children, Kenneth Ray Posey, Kasandra Posey (Michele), and Mary Bean (Michael); two grandchildren he lovingly raised as his own, Amy Elizabeth Sneed and Wesley Jarrell Sneed Jr.(Serenity); grandchildren, Klarissa Burton and Karleena Burton; great-grandchildren, Collin, Logan, William, and Guinevere; siblings, Tessie Ralston, Bill Posey, and Herman Posey; and several nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday, October 25, 2025, in the funeral home chapel with Pastor Sterling Jetton and Pastor Jason Brooks officiating. The family will receive friends from 1:00 p.m. until the service time at the funeral home.
