Born in Knoxville, Tennessee, Paul spent his entire adult life on Lookout Mountain. He attended Hinkle Baptist Church on the mountain. Paul had a heart of gold and never met a stranger. He was first employed with Shaw Industries in Dalton, Georgia, and later took a position closer to home at Covenant College, a job he truly enjoyed.
Paul was preceded in death by his parents, Everett and Cora Wilson; his sister, Deborah Travis; and his brother-in-law, Carl Tate.
He is survived by his two sisters, Virginia Morton and Diane Tate; nieces and nephews, Keith (Kristi) King, James (Nicki) King, Jennifer (Baris) Bilek, Tara Morton, and Tricia (Michael) Smolik; 12 great-nephews; 6 great-nieces; 9 great-great-nephews; 4 great-great-nieces; and a host of extended family and friends.
The family will receive friends for visitation from 5:00 – 8:00 p.m. on Friday, February 20, 2026, in the parlor of the funeral home. Visitation will also be held from 12:00 noon – 2:00 p.m. on Saturday prior to the service. A funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. in the Ft. Oglethorpe Chapel of Wilson Funeral Home, with a graveside service to follow at Paynes Chapel Cemetery on Lookout Mountain.
