Franklin A. Hancock

Franklin A. “Red”, “Curly”, “Albert”, “Pop” Hancock, 84, of Rossville, GA peacefully passed away at his home on Monday, July 10, 2023.  Red was born in Long Island, AL and grew up in Scottsboro and spent the rest of his life in the Rossville area.  He worked many years at the Rebel Drive Inn on Rossville Blvd.  Red retired with over 40 years of service from Dixie Yarns, Inc.  He was an active member for over 50 years of the Fraternal Order of Eagles #2942.  Red loved his family, and he cherished his time with them throughout the years.  He loved the outdoors and traveling and enjoyed spending time on the lake, camping, fishing, and boating.  Red was a social butterfly who loved to dance, he loved children, and he loved listening to music.  He will be dearly missed.

He was preceded in death by his loving wife, Barbara; son, Jeff; mother, Leola; brother Ed; and parents-in-law, Gene and Ada Hughes.

Survivors include his children, Rhonda (Rick) of Rossville, GA, Franklin “Junior” of East Ridge, TN, and Billy (Karen) of Ft. Oglethorpe, GA; brother, Carl (Sue) of Guntersville, AL; grandchildren, Brittley, Brooke, Chris, Rachel, Matt, Hannah, Andrew, and Tristan; 17 great grandchildren; and one great-great grandchild.

Funeral Services will be held Thursday at 1:30p.m. in the South Crest Chapel with Rev. Dean Jeffery officiating.

Interment will follow in the TN-GA Memorial Park.

The family will receive friends Thursday from 10:00a.m. until the funeral at the South Crest Chapel of Lane Funeral Home and Crematory, Rossville, GA.
