Freeda Ann Butler, 83, of Rossville, Georgia, passed away on Wednesday, May 15, 2024. She was born in DeKalb County, Alabama to the late Oscar and Naomi Smith. She was of the Baptist faith. Freeda, a dedicated professional, retired in 2002 from Parkside Nursing and Rehabilitation Center after a long and successful career as a Certified Nursing Assistant. Her commitment to her work was unparalleled. Freeda also had a passion for gardening and cats. She was a skilled cook and a diligent worker. Known for her big heart, she was always ready to help anyone in need. Her fantastic sense of humor and love for her family were her defining traits. She will be deeply missed.

Freeda was preceded in death by her parents, Oscar and Naomi Smith, and her daughter, Melinda Ann Ahwan.

Freeda is survived by her loving children, Dwight (Karen) Butler of Chattanooga, Tennessee, Tammy Butler of Rossville, Georgia, and Mark Butler of Whitwell, Tennessee. She also leaves behind a host of dear friends who will always remember her.

A time to gather to celebrate Freeda’s life will be held at a later date.
