Gary Richard Jeffers
July 3, 1949 - February 9, 2026
Gary Richard Jeffers, age 76, of Ringgold, passed away on Monday, February 9th, 2026. Gary was born in Scott County, Tennessee and was a longtime resident of Ringgold, Georgia. He proudly served his county in Vietnam and attended Woodstation Church. He was also a volunteer with the Catoosa County Fire Department for about 20 years and was the Captain in Woodstation (Station 2) for several years. He retired after over twenty years with the Georgia Forestry Commission and served as a forest ranger in Catoosa County. Gary loved Braves baseball and fishing. He cherished the time he spent with his grandchildren and great grandchildren. He was known for his kindness, which was often shown by helping a friend or neighbor.
Gary was preceded in death by his parents, Alfred Jeffers and Melody Dobbs Jeffers. He was also preceded by his brothers Ken, Ron, and Wayne Jeffers and two grandchildren, Jon and Emily Tinker.
His is survived by his loving wife, Elaine Jeffers: his children, Beth Peters, Jenni (David) Wilbanks, Stephen Sweet, Gary Jeffers(Stephanie) and Jewel Huffman and family; his siblings, Steve(Betty) Jeffers, Judy Goins, Phyllis(Jim) York; his grandchildren, Tonie(Chris) Ogle, Levi Sweet, Logan Jeffers and Jeremy Peters; great grandchildren, Lily, Zoie, and Millie Tinker. Several nieces and nephews are also surviving.
Papaw will be greatly missed and fondly remembered by all who knew him.
The family will receive friends on Monday, February 16, 2026, from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Woodstation Church, 13198 Alabama Hwy, Ringgold, GA 30736. A graveside service will be held on Tuesday, February 17, 2026, at 12:30 p.m. at the Chattanooga National Cemetery. An online guestbook is available at www.wilsonfuneralhome.com.
