George Eugene Summers
December 15, 1920 - June 2, 2023

George Eugene Summers passed away peacefully at home, June 2, 2023 at the age of 102, surrounded by his loving and devoted family. Originally from Victoria, TN, but has been living in the Rossville area for the past 74 years. He was a member at the South Rossville Baptist Church. He served in WWII in the U.S. Army from 1942 - 1945. He was a long time employee of the U.S. Pipe and Foundry in Chattanooga, TN. George was a devoted husband and father. He enjoyed hunting and training his dogs, being outside in his garden, golfing and sharing time with friends. He was well respected and cared for his community. His devotion to serving the Lord was constant through Christ and with all whom he encountered in fellowship at church and in life.

He is preceded in death by his wife of 75 years, Mary Ellen Summers; parents William James & Bessie Lela Summers; along with many siblings.

George is survived by his two daughters, Clara Russell and Lynn Boone; his sisters
Willie Ruth Ball, Rachel Dean Yell & Edna Jo (John) Yeoman of Whitwell, TN; granddaughter Kerry (Randy) Martinez; great grandchildren Oscar and Olive Martinez of Perry Hall, MD. Also surviving are numerous nieces, nephews and extended, loving family.

A graveside service will be held at 1:30 p.m. at the Chattanooga National Cemetery on June 13, 2023 with Pastor Joe Callahan and granddaughter Kerry Martinez officiating.

The family would like to extend their appreciation and many thanks for the excellent work and care provided by Hospice Chattanooga South Team and for their love and compassion.
