Hartford “Pops” Hicks
August 21, 1949 - August 12, 2025

Hartford “Pops” Hicks, age 75, of Ringgold, Georgia, went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, August 12, 2025. Born in Whiteside, Tennessee, to the late James David Hicks and Lola Smith Hicks, Hartford moved to the North Georgia area at a young age and remained a devoted follower of the Christian faith throughout his life.
A proud veteran, Hartford honorably served his country in the U.S. Army, 5th Artillery in Korea, during the Vietnam War. Following his military service, he dedicated himself to the construction industry, where he found both purpose and pride in his work until his retirement in 2022 due to health concerns.
Hartford was a man of simple joys and deep passions. He loved the serenity of the beach, the charm of backroad drives, and the thrill of cheering on his beloved Georgia Bulldogs. His musical tastes reflected his soul—classic and heartfelt—with Elvis Presley and Johnny Cash among his favorites.
Above all, Hartford was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, uncle, and friend. His unwavering love and loyalty enriched the lives of all who knew him. He will be remembered for his warm heart, steadfast faith, and the legacy of love he leaves behind.
He was preceded in death by his son, Hartford Dwight Hicks; grandson, Christopher Blake Hicks; and sister, Mary Ella Walker.
Hartford is survived by his loving wife of 58 years, Patricia Ann Julian Hicks; daughters and sons-in-law, Christy Renee Brazil (Patrick) and Lorie Drew (Bubba); grandchildren, Hailey Hall, Calli Peterson (Cody), Braden Hall (Mallory), Austin Hicks, David Klopp, and Christian Klopp; as well as several cherished nieces and nephews.
A celebration of Hartford’s life will be held at 12:30 PM on Tuesday, August 19, 2025, in the funeral home chapel, with Kristy Smith officiating. Interment will follow at Chattanooga National Cemetery.
The family will receive friends on Monday, August 18, from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM, and again on Tuesday after 11:00 AM.
