November 13, 1948 - June 25, 2025
Hugh “Skip” Boyd III, 76, resident of Chickamauga, Georgia, went to be with his Lord and Savior on Wednesday, June 25, 2025.
Mr. Boyd, son of the late Hugh Glenn Boyd II, was born November 13, 1948 in Chattanooga, Tennessee. After graduating from Central High School in Chattanooga, he attended the University of Tennessee Chattanooga and then served his country honorably in the U.S. Army Reserves. After leaving the military, Mr. Boyd became an electrician, working for several years under the I.B.E.W. Union #175, retiring from Adman Electric Company, Chattanooga, Tennessee. Mr. Boyd was a member of Silverdale Baptist Church in Chattanooga; enjoyed spending time outdoors; and metal detecting. He enjoyed researching and studying Civil War History and World History. Years back, Mr. Boyd was an excellent mechanic and built and raced cars for fun. While at home, he enjoyed spending time with his dog, Bella and keeping his yard pristine. He would also watch World War history shows and kept up with American politics. Mr. Boyd would also listen to Christian music. The family remembers him as a man who loved God with all of his heart – one who loved others, always showed respect to those he would meet, and would offer to help anyone he could.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by a step-granddaughter, Hailey Stone.
Mr. Boyd is survived by his wife, Teresa Boyd; one daughter, Ashley (Chad) McQueen; one step-daughter, April (Nick) Bruce; one step-son, Chad (Jennifer) Mullens; one sister, Kathy (Bob) Brogden; two grandchildren, Ian McQueen and Annalene McQueen; five step-grandchildren, Hayden Strickland, Chloe Mullens, Shelby McWilliams, Gage McWilliams, and Evan Bruce; many nieces; nephews; other relatives and friends.
