1942-2025
Jacqueline Ilene Gentry Green, age 83, of Chickamauga, Georgia, went home to be with the Lord on Friday, July 4, 2025.
Born in Detroit, Michigan, Jacqueline was the daughter of the late John Grover Gentry and Blanche Ponder Gentry. She had made Chickamauga her home for the past 20 years and attended Elizabeth Lee Methodist Church. There, she served as an assistant to the Sunday School Superintendent, and faithfully supported the church’s Food Pantry ministry.
Jacqueline retired from Prudential Insurance after more than four decades of dedicated service. A woman of many talents, she was a registered artist with Chattanooga’s River Gallery, specializing in the intricate craft of pine needle basketry. She extended her creativity and compassion by making embroidered greeting cards, activity mats for dementia patients, burial gowns for infants, and numerous quilts lovingly sewn for friends and family.
Above all, Jacqueline was a woman of faith and quiet strength, known for her generous spirit and selfless service to others. She deeply loved the Lord and her family and will be remembered for the lives she touched with her kindness and care.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 66 years, Edward “Ed” Saylor Green.
She is survived by her daughters, Jan (Eddie) Green Lindsey and Julie (Michael) Elaine Green Smith; grandchildren, Christopher (Marybeth) Edward Smith, Dr. Matthew (Lilly) G. Smith, and Katie (Jason) Elizabeth Lindsey Owings; and great-grandchildren, Liz, Evie, Saylor, Peyton, and Claire.
