James Alan Perry
December 3, 1948 - August 20, 2024

James Alan Perry, 75, of Fort Oglethorpe, passed away Tuesday, August 20, 2024 at home, surrounded by his family. He was born in Chattanooga, Tennessee on December 3, 1948 to the late, James Harry Perry & Bonnie Lou Pyburn Perry and had lived most of his life in the Fort Oglethorpe area. He was a member of Grace Baptist Church in Chickamauga and was a United States Air Force veteran having served his country during Vietnam. James had worked most of his life as a Steam Fitter for the Chattanooga Plumbers Union and enjoyed bowling and spending time with his family & friends. Mr. Perry was the Chairman of the Fort Oglethorpe Planning Committee for many years and was a member of the Vietnam Veterans of America and also served as the Commander for V.F.W. Post #4848. He was a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather that will be truly missed by all who knew him.

Survivors include his loving wife of more than 25 years, Freda Holcomb Perry; son, James Harry Perry; daughter & son-in-law, Jill & (Chris) Bartlett; 2 grandchildren, Valerie Toon and Phillip Perry; 2 great grandchildren; best friend, Richard “Dickie” Hutssell; and numerous extended family & friends.

Graveside services will be held at 1:00 p.m., Friday, August 23, 2024 in Lakewood South Memory Gardens. There will be no visitation at the funeral home.
