James “Jim” Metzger, 84, of Rossville, GA formerly of Hermitage, PA passed away Friday, April 28, 2023. He had lived most of his life in Pennsylvania and the past three years in Georgia. For many years Jim worked for Sharon Steel and Pennsylvania Rail Car Company. He retired in in 2012 from Mercer County Transit as a driver with thirteen years of service. Jim was a social member of the VFW Post 6166 and the American Legion Post 299. He was also a member of the Moose Lodge 276. Jim was a social butterfly. He never met a stranger and always enjoyed time with his family and friends. Throughout the years he could be found on his boat fishing, and he also enjoyed hunting. He will be dearly missed by his family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph and Edith Metzger; and four half-brothers, Junior, Harold, Raymond, and Dale Boles.
Survivors include his wife, Lavone Metzger; two children, Jim Metzger and companion, Kim Riffe, and Brian (Carol) Metzger; two step-children, Randall (Lisa) Michael and Melissa Ryan; nine grandchildren; eleven great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
