James “Jimmy” Nolan Simmons
June 7, 1950 - July 5, 2025

James “Jimmy” Nolan Simmons, 75, of Rock Spring, Georgia, passed away on Saturday, July 5, 2025. He was born to the late Orville and Idella Simmons in LaFayette, Georgia. Jimmy was a lifelong resident of the Chattanooga and Northwest Georgia area. Before Jimmy’s retirement in 1991, he was an over-the-road truck driver with over twenty years of service. In Jimmy’s early years, he enjoyed horses and riding bulls in the rodeo. He was always a great mechanic and could fix anything. For the last several years, he has enjoyed collecting old lawn mowers and rebuilding and restoring them to sell. He also enjoyed riding motorcycles. His family dearly loved Jimmy, and he will be greatly missed.

Jimmy is preceded in death by his parents, Orville Simmons and Idella Swafford Simmons; brother, David Simmons; and sister, Elizabeth Ann Prevette.

Those left to cherish his memory include his children, Anna Marie Parker of LaFayette, Georgia and James Simmons Kaito of Chattanooga, Tennessee; former wife Donna Simmons; sisters, Paulette (Arley) Liles of Rock Spring, Georgia, Charlotte Murphy of Rock Spring, Georgia, Vivian (Butch) Kessling of Whitesburg, Georgia, and Betty Jo Rames of Naples, Florida; brothers, Terry Simmons of Chattanooga, Tennessee, Bob Simmons of Rome, Georgia, Cotton Simmons of LaFayette, Georgia, Jackie Simmons of Whitesburg, Georgia, and Doodle Bug Ramey of Fairview, Georgia; grandchildren, Justin Allen Simmons and Jessica Marie Crowder; and great-grandchildren, Hazel Wallen and David Wallen.

The family has arranged for a time to remember and honor Jimmy. Friends and family are invited to join us on Thursday, July 10, 2025, from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. and Friday, July 11, 2025, from 11 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. The funeral service, a time to celebrate Jimmy’s life, will be held on Friday, July 11, 2025, at 3:00 p.m. at the LaFayette Chapel. Following the service, we will proceed to the Macedonia Cemetery outside of Summerville, Georgia, for the burial. The family appreciates your prayers and support during this difficult time.
