James “JR” Richard Watkins, 85, of Ringgold, Georgia, passed away on Tuesday, October 14, 2025. He was born to the late Charles Richard and Elsie Mae Watkins in Chattanooga, Tennessee. JR was a lifelong resident of the Chattanooga and Northwest Georgia area and was of the Baptist faith.

JR is preceded in death by his parents, Charles Richard Watkins and Elsie Mae Mealor, and daughters, Tammy Vaughn and Robin Watkins.

Those left to cherish his memory include his loving wife of fifty-five years, Sofia Linda Watkins of Ringgold, Georgia; daughter, LeeAnn Stewart of Ringgold, Georgia; son, David Watkins of Alamo, Georgia; sister, Francis Chambers of Chattanooga, Tennessee; son-in-law, Brian (Robin) Vaughn; grandchildren, Austyn Mumea, Brandye Stewart, James Stewart, Stormy Taylor, Windy Fincher, Misty Fincher, Katelyn Walker, Thomas Vaughn, Stephanie Ryder, and Franklin Daniel; and several great-grandchildren.

A memorial service, a time to celebrate JR’s life, will be held at a later date. The family appreciates your prayers and support during this difficult time.
