James “Jud” Judson Lowery

James Judson (Jud) Lowery, 67, of East Brainerd, went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, August 4, 2024 after a short time in the hospital.
Jud was a life-long resident of Hamilton County. He was an electrician with the I.B.E.W. Local 175 for 44 years. During his time in the industry, he mostly worked for the W.C. Teas Company and Lawson Electric. He handled many projects throughout downtown Chattanooga during his career which included being the head electrical foreman of the original TN Aquarium project. He later retired in 2020 from L.E. Myers Co. while serving as a steward at Sequoyah Nuclear Plant.
He loved watching and playing golf with many close friends over the years. He also had a strong calling from the Lord to preach and educate people on the gospel. He graduated from Covington Theological Seminary and in 1991, he became an ordained minister. He was a guest preacher at various churches throughout Hamilton Co. and surrounding areas.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Billy James and Gloria Baldwin Lowery; brother, Robert Edward Lowery.
Survivors include his wife, Alicia Jeanette (Lisa) Lowery; son Judson David Lowery (Katie); daughter Deborah LeeAnn Lowery, all from East Brainerd. He also leaves behind four grandchildren Jayla, Joshua, Jasmine and Jeanette Lowery.
The family will receive visitors from 5-8 p.m. on Thursday, August 8, at the Wilson Funeral Home, Fort Oglethorpe. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, August 9, in the funeral home chapel with Pastor Bill Spencer officiating. Burial will follow at Lakewood Memory Gardens South. Pallbearers will be David Lowery, Justin Lowery, Todd Wilson, Ed Wilson, Ben Chill, Derek Long and Aaron Shinn.
