Janice Massey
Janice Massey, age 82, resident of Rising Fawn, Georgia, passed away on Tuesday, May 21, 2024 at her residence.

Mrs. Massey, daughter of the late Woodrow William Cates and Emma Mae Frances Gravitt Cates, was born September 30, 1941 in Durham, Georgia. She was a homemaker and member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, in Flintstone, Georgia. Mrs. Massey had an interest in genealogy and studying family history. She enjoyed gardening, landscaping, and taking walks in the nearby woods. While at home, many would find her sewing, canning food, quilting, or doing an inside project.

The family remembers her as a lady always wanting to serve and help others. She was a lady who loved her family immensely.

Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Wallace Henry Massey; two brothers, Leon Cates and Harvey Cates; and a sister, Doris Clark. Mrs. Massey is survived by two daughters, Karen (Rodney) Carroll and Dixie (Kirt) Sjostrom; one sister, Gwendolyn Blevins; two brothers, Granvil Cates and Davoit (Pam) Cates; eight grandchildren, Rodney (Roxanne) Carroll II, Tim Carroll, Wesley (Pam) Carroll, Shannon (Matt) Clark, Stephanie (Zach) Gravitt, Jesse (Brittany) Carroll, Chelsea Sjostrom, and Hunter Sjostrom; numerous great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends.

Funeral services will be held at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints Church, 4226 GA Hwy 341, Flintstone, Georgia on Friday, May 24, 2024 at 2 p.m. Interment will follow at Mount Pleasant Cemetery, 6083 GA Hwy 157, Rising Fawn, Georgia. The family will receive friends at W.L. Wilson & Sons Funeral Home, 555 West Cloud Springs Road, Fort Oglethorpe, Georgia on Thursday, May 23, 2024 from 5-8 p.m.
