Jerry Lee Bryson, of Tunnel Hill, Georgia, passed away on Wednesday, February 4, 2026, leaving behind a lifetime of memories with those who knew and loved him.
Jerry, son of the late Robert Bryson, Sr. and Edna Mae Vaughn Bryson, was born April 6, 1945 in Summerville, Georgia. He was known for his steady nature, warm heart, and the quiet kindness he showed to others. He valued family above all else and believed in working hard, treating people right, and appreciating life’s simple blessings. His presence brought comfort, his stories brought smiles, and his love for his family was constant and unwavering. Jerry enjoyed animals, fishing, hunting, and spending time at the lake. He also enjoyed cutting lawns for himself and others. While at home, many would find him watching classic western and action movies/shows.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Sue Peter Bryson; his son, Stacy Lee Bryson; his brother, Buddy Bryson; and his sister, Bobbie Bryson Milford.
Jerry is survived by his daughters, Kim Hewitt (Shane) Heither and April (Charlie) Wimpy, both of Tunnel Hill; his sister, Betty (Ronnie) Hullender of Ringgold, Georgia; his grandchildren, Kira (Juan Salazar) Collins, Kayla (David) Condra, Trey (Tiffany) Hewitt, Brett (Kristina Kilgore) Bowling, Hunter (Brittany) Bowling, Hannah (Patrick Bryan) Bowling, Gage Peters Wimpy, Aaron Wimpy, and India Wimpy; and his great-grandchildren, Tristan, Matthew, Alexis, Beau, Theo, Bryson, Maren, Bennett, Anna Grace, Riley, Marilyn, Madelyn, and soon-to-be Ella Kate; many other relatives and friends.
Jerry’s life was a reflection of his steadfast devotion and compassion, and the quiet, last way he showed love to the people around him. He will be deeply missed and forever remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing him. Jerry will also be remembered as a kind man that would always make sure people were taken care of.
Funeral services will be held at Wilson Funeral Homes - Wallis-Stewart Chapel on Sunday, February 8, 2026, at 3:00 p.m. with Chaplain Pam Johnson officiating. Private burial will be held at Gordy Memorial Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Saturday, February 7, 2026 from 3:00 pm - 6:00 p.m. and Sunday from 12 noon until the funeral service.
