Joann Marie Burger, age 87, resident of East Ridge, Tennessee, passed away at her residence on Friday, February 14, 2025. Mrs. Burger, daughter of the late Roy Duncan and Lilian Butler Duncan, was born August 2, 1937 in Ooltewah, Tennessee. She was retired from Marmode Hose Mill where she worked faithfully for over 30 years. Mrs. Burger attended Liberty Baptist Church in Chickamauga, Georgia. She enjoyed gardening, painting, and trips to the mountains and the beach. Most of all, she looked forward to spending quality time with her grandchildren. While at home, she enjoyed doing word searches and cooking, especially cooking meals for the family on holidays. She also enjoyed watching television shows – particularly COPS and The Food Network. The family remembers her as a lady who was there for her family, and would always do anything to help at any time.

Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Clifford Lee Burger; daughter, Leona Bowman; and two sons, Tommy Burger and Clifford W. “Wally” Burger. Mrs. Burger is survived by four grandchildren, Shawnna (Richard) Skiles, John (Jennifer) Bowman, and Freddy (Judy) Bowman; two great-grandsons, Justin (Elizabeth) Young and Ryan (Morgan) Young; four great-great-grandchildren, Liam Young and Jackson Young and Logan and Ryker Little; many other relatives and friends.

The family will receive friends at W.L. Wilson & Sons Funeral Home, 555 West Cloud Springs Road, Fort Oglethorpe, Georgia on Saturday, February 22, 2025 from 1-5 p.m. Private services will be held at a later date.
