JoAnn “Nana” Griffin, age 87, resident of Rossville, Georgia, passed away on Wednesday, July 23, 2025 at her residence.
Mrs. Griffin, daughter of the late Franklin Holland and Mary Ruth Ellis Holland, was born March 23, 1938 in Chattanooga, Tennessee. She was Methodist by faith and retired from the City of Chattanooga where she faithfully worked for the Chattanooga Police Department for over 25 years. Mrs. Griffin enjoyed listening to Southern Gospel Music, solving Word Search puzzles, and watching Atlanta Braves Baseball, NASCAR, and college football (particularly Tennessee Volunteers. The family remembers her as a lady who was loving and kind to everyone.
Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Douglas Deleno Griffin; son, Douglas Dale Griffin; and two brothers, Jimmy Holland and Jerry Holland.
She is survived by two daughters, Treva Griffin and Melissa (Lori) Griffin; one sister, Jeanette (Pete) Arp; daughter-in-law, Becky Murray; six grandchildren, Landon, Hunter, Kylee, Amanda, Tiffany, and Zoei; seven great-grandchildren; many other relatives and friends.
Memorial services will be held at the Chapel of W.L. Wilson & Sons Funeral Home, 555 West Cloud Springs Road, Fort Oglethorpe, Georgia on Wednesday, July 30, 2025, 4 p.m. with Reverend Rick Studdard officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home prior to the service on Wednesday, July 30. 2025 from 2-4 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests contributions be made to your favorite charity in her name.
