John Edward Campbell, age 69, of South Pittsburg, Tennessee, passed away on Friday, July 18, 2025, and was called home to be with the Lord. Born in Cleveland, OH and raised in the Grundy County area, John was a devoted member of Midway Baptist Church, where he found strength and comfort throughout his life.
John honorably served his country in the U.S. Army Reserves and was deployed during the Gulf War (Desert Storm), a chapter of his life that he carried with pride.
Above all, John was a loving father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him. Preceding him in death were his father, J. C. Campbell, and his cherished family members.
Left to cherish his memory are his special friend, Mary Talley; his beloved mother, Lois Smart; his children, Collis (Tashia) Campbell, Shasta (Justin) Murray, and Sadie Talley; his sisters, Della Brody, Opal King, Roxanne Barks, Sharon Barks, and Nadine King; his brothers, John Campbell and Mark Campbell; five grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews, and extended family members.
The funeral service will be held on Wednesday, July 23, 2025, at 2:00 p.m. in the chapel of W.L. Wilson & Sons Funeral Home, with Pastor Jack Swanson officiating. Interment will follow at Tennessee Georgia Memorial Park.
The family will receive friends on Wednesday, July 23, 2025, from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service.
