Joseph “Joe” Parris, age 67, lifelong resident of Chattanooga, Tennessee, passed away on August 11, 2024 at Memorial Main Hospital, Chattanooga, Tennessee.
Mr. Parris, son of the late Thomas Nelson Parris and Patricia Kathleen Morgan Parris, was born November 6, 1956 in Chattanooga. He attended Riverside Baptist Church and was an avid Alabama Crimson Tide fan. Mr. Parris was a truck driver for over 34 years, retiring from U.S. Express. In the 70’s and 80’s, he enjoyed drag racing. He also enjoyed watching old classic western movies and occasionally going camping or fishing. The family remembers him as a man that would always want to help others.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Thomas “Buster” Parris; and two sisters, Teresa Ann Parris and Kathleen Parris.
Mr. Parris is survived by one brother, Jimmy “Jimbo” Parris; one nephew, Duane Parris; five cousins; other relatives and friends.
Graveside services will be held at Boydston Cemetery, 3335 Boydston Road, Chattanooga, Tennessee on Friday, August 16, 2024, 11 a.m. with Reverend Garrett Reagan officiating. The family will receive friends at W.L. Wilson and Son’s Funeral Home, 555 West Cloud Springs Road, Fort Oglethorpe, Georgia.
