On April 28, 2025, Joy Sue Harbour, age 83, of Ringgold, Georgia was called home to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. Joy lived a life rooted in faith, devoted to Christ, and guided by the teachings of the Holy Bible.
Joy was a woman of unwavering faith, whose love for The Lord shone bright throughout her life. She retired from Shaw Industries in 2009 after thirty-four years. Joy found happiness in prayer (and Georgia football & NASCAR), strength in scripture, and peace in the promise of eternal life. She shared her faith through kindness, compassion, witnessing to others, and an unyielding trust in God’s plan.
Joy was a member of Cross Connection Church in Chickamauga, Georgia. She was devoted to her church family and taught Sunday School in her earlier years.
A loving daughter, mother, sister, aunt, and grandmother, Joy will be greatly missed by all who knew her. However, solace is found in Christ’s resurrection and the assurance of God’s eternal kingdom.
Preceding her in death are her beloved husband, Gene Harbour, her parents, Virgil L. Walker and Laura Mae Walker, and her four brothers, Larry Walker, David Walker, Richard Walker, and Kenneth Walker.
Joy is survived by her son, Jeff Holcomb (Tina) of Trion, GA, her sisters, Lynda Dyer (Ron) of Ringgold, GA and Judy Shaffer (Dan) of Collegedale, TN, her granddaughter, Tiffany Holcomb, and
many loved nieces and nephews.
The family would like to send heartfelt gratitude to Kelly and Jolene, her hospice nurses, and to Holly, her hospice caregiver, from Tapestry Hospice for their loving care of Joy and her family in the final days.
A private graveside service will be held for the family. Arrangements by Wilson Funeral Homes Wallis ~ Stewart Chapel, Ringgold, Georgia.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in her honor to Cross Connection Church in Chickamauga, Georgia and St. Jude Children’s Hospital, both of which she greatly supported.
