Judith Anne Fugate (St. John) Bayless, 88, went home to be with the Lord on May 13, 2025. She was born in Chickamauga at home by her grandfather, Dr. Harold Franklin Shields, to Walter Thomas Fugate and Doris Shields Fugate. She was a graduate of Gordon Lee High School, Class of 1955, and a member of the William Marsh Chapter of the Daughters of the Revolution in Walker County, Ga. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Chickamauga, member of the Dorcas Sunday School class and member of the Chancel Choir. She enjoyed, over the years sewing, singing, reading, studying family genealogy and playing cards, mainly Shanghai, with friends, but most important, she loved spending time with her family and absolutely loved being a Tutu! Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, Walter Franklin Fugate, husband, Herman D. Bayless and grandson, Christopher Mark St. John. She was survived by her son, Frederick Mark (Kim) St. John of Rock Spring, Ga, daughters, Laura Walker of Dunlap, TN, and Amye (Richard) Guinn of Rock Spring, Ga; granddaughters, Paulette St. John, Rachel Paige (Chris) Tapley, Kimberly Elizabeth (Betsy) St. John and Lynsay (Martin) Chapman; great grandchildren, Hannah Peyton Guinn, Lillian Paige (Lillie) Holcomb, Parker Lee Holcomb, Amelia Claire (Millie) Chapman and Nora Kate Chapman along with multiple nieces and nephews. The funeral service will be held at 2:00 pm on Saturday, May 17, 2025 in the funeral home chapel, within. Mike Battles officiating. Interment will follow in the Chickamauga City Cemetery. the family will receive friends from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm on Friday and prior to the service on Saturday. Special appreciation and gratitude goes to the caregivers at The Rosewood of Ft. Oglethorpe, Ga., and Tapestry Hospice. In lieu of flowers, you may make a donation in Judi's name to the First Baptist Church Chancel Choir Fund or the AV Department.
