Larry Leon Cagle
August 24, 1950 - June 28, 2025
Larry Leon Cagle, 74, of Ringgold, Georgia, passed away on Saturday, June 28, 2025. He was born to the late Jack Cagle and Edna Goins in Chattanooga, Tennessee. Larry was a lifelong resident of the Chattanooga and Northwest Georgia area, and was a lifelong Baptist who attended First Baptist Church of Fort Oglethorpe, Georgia. Larry was one of our American Heroes who dearly loved our country. He served our country in the United States Navy during the Vietnam War and later in the United States Navy Reserves. After his time in the Navy, Larry joined the U.S. Postal Service, where he retired in 2010 after a long career of service. Larry loved the Lord and enjoyed serving with the Amazing Grace Missionaries. On most days, you could find Larry up at 4:30 in the morning reading and studying his Bible with a good cup of coffee. Larry loved his family, especially spending time with his grandkids. He would get down on the floor with them to play and have a good time. He enjoyed planting flowers and gardening, but most of all, he loved the Lord and his family. Larry’s favorite verse of scripture was Romans 8:18. “For I reckon that the sufferings of this present time are not worthy to be compared with the glory which shall be revealed in us.” The family is comforted today knowing that Larry is in Heaven experiencing the Glory of God.

Larry is preceded in death by his mother, Edna Clara Goins, and sister-in-law Maureen Goins.

Those left to cherish his memory include his loving wife, Christy Cagle; children, Michelle (Bill) Fentress of Bethlehem, Georgia, Terri (Mike) O’Neal of Cohutta, Georgia, and Zach (Sierra Holcomb) Patterson of Fort Oglethorpe, Georgia; brothers, Terry Goins of North Carolina, and Ray (Melanie) Goins of Red Bank, Tennessee; sister, Dianne (Bob) Punch of Rock Spring, Georgia; grandchildren, Cristen (Alex) Stewart, Hunter (Lauren) O’Neal, Billy Fentress, Colt Patterson; and great-grandchildren, Mason, David, Emma, and Andrew.
