May 19, 1934 - August 24, 2024
Laura "Jane" Martin, 90, formerly of East Ridge, Tennessee, passed away at her home in Chickamauga, Georgia, on Saturday, August 24, 2024. She was the widow of Dallas McKager Martin. Jane often reminisced about the first time she saw Dallas at a family function, visiting her brother and seeing Dallas in his Air Force uniform. She would fondly say, "He was the prettiest thing she had ever seen." Their love story led to a remarkable marriage that lasted sixty-two years until Dallas's passing in December 2014.
Jane enjoyed reading and studying her Bible and watching various sports on television. In her earlier years, she was an avid seamstress, making clothes for Cathy and herself. She was a member of Elizabeth Lee Methodist Church on the Home Bound List and a former member of Highland Park Baptist Church and Tennessee Temple Schools for over fifty years.
Jane's love for her family was unwavering. She is survived by her daughter Cathy (Roy) Gadd of Chickamauga, Georgia; granddaughter Lisa Porter and great-granddaughter (Lisa's daughter) Mia Porter; sister Becky Dyer; several nieces and nephews; and loving friends and neighbors.
The family has arranged for a time to remember and honor Jane. Friends and family are invited to join us on Wednesday, August 28, 2024, from 10 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. A graveside service, a time to celebrate Jane's life and the joy she brought to all who knew her, will be held at 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, August 28, 2024, at Chattanooga National Cemetery, with Zack Fitzpatrick officiating. The family has requested that in place of flowers, donations may be sent to Elizabeth Lee Methodist Church, Chickamauga, GA, for their Building Fund or Trust Fund. The family appreciates your prayers and support during this difficult time.
