Laverne Locklear Wiseman
December 27, 1941 ~ August 6, 2023

On Sunday, August 6, 2023, Laverne Locklear Wiseman, at the age of 81, went home to be with Jesus.  Laverne was a loving mother, grandmother, great grandmother, mother-in-law, and friend to many people.  She is preceded in death by her parents, Turner Locklear and Lottie Mae Hale Locklear and brother Michael Locklear.

Laverne is survived by her son Brooks (Jackie) Wiseman of Maineville, OH.; and daughter Karan (Michael) Wilson of Ringgold, GA.; four grandchildren: Justin Wiseman, Alex Wilson, Andrew Wilson, and Avery Wilson and great granddaughter Carmen Wilson; sisters Glenda Self of Rome, GA, and Lynette (John) Ross of Athens, GA; sister-in-law Nancy Locklear of Rome, GA.; and several nieces and nephews.

Laverne was born in Rome, GA and graduated with honors from Johnson High School in 1959.  Her favorite thing was spending time with her family and friends, especially her grandchildren.  She always looked forward to the annual encampment at Morrison Campground each summer in Rome, GA where she would catch up with family members and friends.

Laverne loved Jesus!  She was a follower of Jesus from a young age and a committed prayer warrior for her family.  Later in life, Laverne had many surgeries and procedures at local hospitals in the Chattanooga area.  During her stays, no matter how she felt, a smile was always on her face, and she always had a listening ear when meeting doctors and nurses.  She was a light that shined bright for her Savior.  When she left this world on August 5, 2023, her light didn’t go out.  It is still shining bright through the ones she touched while here.

We miss our mom, mommom, sister, mother-in-law, and friend.  We miss your laugh and good advice.  We look forward to the day we are together again in heaven.  The family would like to thank all of the doctors, nurses and caregivers who took care of Laverne.  Special thanks to Hearth Hospice.

A graveside service will be held on August 11 at 11:00 AM at Tennessee-Georgia Memorial Park Cemetery.  In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you donate to Laverne’s favorite ministry, Messianic Ministry to Israel by going to their website www.mmisrael.org or sending a donation to P.O. Box 22654, Chattanooga, TN 37422.
