Lawson C. Butler Jr. passed away on May 19, 2024, in his home surrounded by family.
Lawson was born on March 6, 1939, in LaFayette GA. A lifelong resident, Lawson began his working career in his family’s grocery business. He then transitioned into the Real Estate business where he worked as an agent and a broker. After his retirement, he had his favorite job working at the LaFayette Golf Course. He was adventurous and had many hobbies. Among his numerous hobbies were: Coin Collecting, Motorcycling, Flying Airplanes, Skeet and Trap Shooting, Woodworking, Golf Club Repair, and always Golf. He was a member of LaFayette First Baptist Church for over 70 years. He was a former President of the Rotary Club and a lifetime member of the LaFayette Elks Lodge
He was preceded in death by his parents L.C. ,Sr. and Willie Mae Butler, brother and Sister-in-Law Jack and Meredith Butler, niece Sandra, and nephew Stuart Rowlette.
He leaves behind his wife of 64 years Joan Butler. Sons Neal and Jeff Butler. Granddaughter Cherish (Zach) Sandidge. Great grandchildren Maddox and Ridge. Nephew and Niece Al Butler and Susan Butler Sumner, and Sister-in-Law Delane Rowlette.
There will be no funeral services. Anyone wishing to make a donation in his honor may donate to LaFayette First Baptist, The Care Mission, or the charity of your choice.
