LeeEtta Thornton Suggs, age 96 went home to be with her Savior on Saturday, November 8, 2025. She took her last breath on the farm where she took her first on March 25, 1929. She was a lifelong member of Mt. Pisgah Baptist Church and attended the Mt. Pisgah School as a child. As a teenager, she worked at the Wintuft spread house in Ringgold where she met her husband, Jimmy, when she had to take the taxi home from work one day. The two eloped at eighteen and went on to have four sons. Together they continued to farm the land that had been in her family for over a hundred years.
She was preceded in death by her parents Maurice and Mary Thornton, her husband Jimmy Suggs, her brothers Charles, Eugene, and Bo Thornton and infant son, Marshall Suggs.
She is survived by her sons Rickey (Pam) Suggs, Randy (Michelle) Suggs, Roger (Darlene) Suggs; grandchildren, Josh, Jason, Phillip (Alex), Zach (Erica), Mary and eight great grandchildren.
The family will receive friends on Tuesday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service. Funeral services will be held at 12:00 p.m. on Tuesday, November 11, 2025, at Mt. Pisgah Baptist Church with Reverend Randy Johnson officiating. In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that donations be made to Mt. Pisgah Baptist Church or Hearth Hospice.
