Linda Charlene Pharris, 69, passed away peacefully on November 6, 2025. Linda spent her entire life in Ringgold where she was a member of New Liberty Baptist Church and a life-long Follower of Christ. She graduated from Ringgold High School, where she played the clarinet in the band and served as Color Guard Captain. She went on to earn her bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education from the University of Georgia and later completed her master’s degree at the University of West Georgia. Teaching and nurturing young minds was her calling, and she poured her heart into it throughout her career, teaching at Tiger Creek Elementary, Chickamauga Elementary, Sonoraville Elementary, and W.L. Swain Elementary.
Linda loved a good mystery—whether on the page or on the screen. She was a loyal member of her book club, though she often joked that if the month’s pick was a romance novel, she was there mainly for the snacks and company. She loved to travel and cherished memories of many trips with friends to the beach, the mountains, and many luncheons filled with laughter. She found joy in shopping and cheering on the Georgia Bulldogs.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Charlie and Sallie Pharris, and her brother, Richard Pharris. Linda is survived by her three children –Tyler (Ashley) Volz, Mahala Volz, and Bryant (Paige) Volz—who will forever cherish her unconditional love and support. She also leaves behind her beloved grandchildren – Owen, William, Cooper, Chandler, Olivia, Ellyson, Charlie, and Jamison. Being their Mamah or Grand-mamah was her greatest joy and constant source of pride. She is also survived by her brothers, Jim and Larry Pharris, as well as many cousins, nieces, nephews, and dear friends who will miss her deeply. Linda’s warmth and laughter touched everyone she met. Her legacy lives on in the family she adored and the countless lives she brightened along the way.
The family will receive friends on Monday, November 10, 2025, from 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm as well as on Tuesday, from 12:00 p.m. until the time of the service at the funeral home. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, November 11, 2025, in the Wallis ~ Stewart Chapel of Wilson Funeral Homes. Interment will follow in New Liberty Cemetery.
