Lonnie Reed CooperTunnel Hill, GA

Lonnie Reed Cooper, 70, of Tunnel Hill, went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, May 16, 2023. He was of the Church of God faith and a member of Hickory Valley Community Church. Lonnie lived in the Keith Community all his life and retired from Shaw Industries in February of 2019, after 47 years of service. In his spare time, he loved watching Nascar, Western TV shows, and the Georgia Bulldogs. Lonnie was a loving husband, father, grandfather and a hard worker who was sure to teach his daughters many of life’s forgotten skills. His most memorable time was spent playing the guitar and banjo, in church and at home, as well as spending time with his family. He is preceded in death by his parents, Wilford and Wilma Wefer Cooper; sister, Pauline Cooper, and brother, Harry Cooper. He is survived by his wife of 48 years, Theresa Tidwell Cooper; daughters, Sonia Weaver and Kimberly (Chuck) Dotson; siblings, Donna Dyer, Phyllis (John) Stapp, David (Noelle) Cooper; mother-in-law, Hilda Tidwell; brother-in-laws, Charles (Sheila) Tidwell, Allan (Jennifer) Tidwell; grandchildren, Nathan and Noah Weaver, and Isaac and Kristina Dotson, as well as many nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends on Sunday from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home and on Monday from 12:00 p.m. until the time of the service. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, May 22, 2023 in the funeral home chapel with Pastors Ronnie Chandler and Doug Stephenson officiating. Burial will follow in Gordy Memorial Cemetery.
