Loyde Harriel Mathis, age 92, of Ringgold, Georgia, went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, February 18, 2026.
Born in DeWitt, Arkansas, he was the son of the late Gordon Lee Mathis and Ethel Irene Gray Mathis. Loyde spent most of his life in the North Georgia area and was a devoted member of the Baptist faith. A proud patriot, he faithfully served his country in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict.
Loyde retired from Crystal Springs after more than 42 years of dedicated service. He was known by family and friends for his selfless spirit, generous heart, and willingness to help anyone in need. He treasured time spent with his loved ones and created lasting memories through his steady presence and kind nature. Loyde was also an avid Arkansas Razorbacks fan and rarely missed an opportunity to cheer on his team.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Linda Fay Mathis; his step-son, Robert Bryson; and his sister, Elizabeth Killian.
Those left to cherish his memory include his son, Rick (Donna) Mathis of Ringgold; step-sons, Dwight Bryson and Tony Bryson; sisters, Carlene Croft and Wanda Mathis; granddaughter, Whitney (Brandon) Morris; great-grandchildren, Paige and Henry; along with several nieces and nephews who will continue to honor his legacy of love and kindness.
A funeral service will be held at 12:00 p.m. on Sunday, February 22, 2026, in the funeral home chapel, with Minister Dennis Killian officiating. Interment will follow at Mt. Pisgah Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Saturday and prior to the service on Sunday.
