Margaret Diane Matheny, 81, of Rossville, Georgia, passed away on Sunday, July 20, 2025. She was born in Chattanooga, Tennessee, to the late Emmett Edward and Edith Marie Carter. In 1969, Diane married the love of her life, Bill Matheny, and they were married for fifty-five years. Diane owned and operated Lady Di Beauty Salon in DeLand, Florida, and Fashion Flair Beauty Salon in Fort Oglethorpe, Georgia, and had enjoyed working as a hairdresser for many years. In her earlier years, she loved exercising and walking six miles a day in the Battlefield. Diane adored being outside in the sunshine. She appreciated her flowers and gardening and enjoyed spending time on their boat on the river when they were in Florida. Diane cherished the company of her friends and neighbors and loved spending time with her family. More than anything, Diane dearly loved and missed Bill. Although Diane will be deeply missed, we find comfort in knowing that she and Bill are together again.

Diane is preceded in death by her husband of fifty-five years, William Earl Matheny; step-children, Sonia Elaine Martin, and Lisa Evans; parents, Emmett Edward and Edith Marie Carter; brother, Bobby Edward Carter; and sister, Doris Marie Rogers.

Those left to cherish her memory include her brother, Wayne LeBron Carter; several step-grandchildren and step-great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

A graveside service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Thursday, July 24, 2025, at the National Cemetery in Chattanooga, Tennessee.
