Marvin Paul Konertz, 94, of Fort Oglethorpe died on Monday, July 3, 2023 in a local healthcare facility. He was a son of the late Martin Joseph Konertz and Margaret Kuehn Olsen. He retired from Container Corporation of America after more than 30 years and had a love and appreciation for classical music. Mr. Konertz received his Master’s degree from the University of Chicago and was a veteran of the U.S. Army. He was an avid stamp and coin collector and enjoyed watching the Atlanta Braves.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Sue Konertz and his companion, Ruth Nyland.

Survivors include his daughters, Linda Cross, Charlene (Wayne) Hardeman and Diana (Murray) McGahee; grandchildren, Donald Hardeman, Dionne Rivers and Colin McGahee; nine great-grandchildren; four great-great grandchildren.

Funeral services will be conducted at 1:00 PM Saturday in the funeral home chapel with Pastor Mike Sims officiating. Interment at Tennessee-Georgia Memorial Park.

The family will receive friends 11-1 PM Saturday at Heritage Funeral Home & Crematory, Battlefield Parkway.
