Mary Jane Cain SwaffordChickamauga, GA

Mary Jane Cain Swafford, age 85, of Chickamauga, GA, went to be with the Lord on Sunday May 7, 2023. She was born in Rossville, GA to the late John Matt Cain and Minnie Lee Ellis Cain. She was a long time member of the First-Centenary Methodist Church in Chattanooga, TN. Mary worked for Hutcheson Medical Center for 20 years in the Personnel (HR) Office. She enjoyed square dancing with the “Wrecktangles.”

Along with her parents, Mary was preceded in death by her loving husband, Raymond L. Swafford; brother, David Cain (and wife Mavis Cain); nephew, Charles Straub; and niece, Cynthia Straub Revis (and son Jeremy Revis). She is survived by her sisters, Judy Coulter and Martha Phillips; daughters, Carol Reed Cross (husband: Gary) and Kathy Swafford (husband: Tim Heath); sons, John Reed, Robert Reed (wife: Wendy) and Chris Swafford (wife: Monica); grandchildren, Brandon Reed Cross(wife; Candice), Kolson Paul Reed, John Matt Reed, and Tylie Swafford-Heath; great-grandchildren, Taylor Higgins, Braeleigh Higgins, Maci Higgins, and Avery Higgins; nieces, Brenda Straub Groves and family, Daphne Cain Eager and family, Amy Cain Decou and family, Melanie Coulter Morton and family, and Tara Coulter Pitts and family; nephew, Neal Coulter and family.

The Funeral service will be held at 11:00am on Thursday, May 11, 2023 in the funeral home chapel with Rev. Michelle Hunter officiating. Interment will follow in the Chattanooga National Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 4:00pm - 7:00pm on Wednesday May 10th and prior to the service on Thursday.
