Melvin Roy Simmons, Jr., age 72, of the Center Post Community, passed away on Thursday, March 6, 2025.
Roy had the heart of a farmer- his connection to the land and his love of farming were of great importance to him.
He was preceded in death by his loving wife, Linda Simmons.
Roy is survived by his sons, David (Brandee) Simmons and Daniel (Amy) Simmons; grandchildren Senora (Devin) Clark, Ella Winkles, Ada Simmons, and Emma Simmons; great-grandchildren, Paisley Clark and Scottie Clark; sister, Margaret (Melvin) Dawson; niece, Rachel Dawson; and special friends, Ruth Barrett and Junebug Ramey.
A funeral service will be held at 2:00 pm on Monday, March 10, in the Wilbanks Memorial Chapel with Minister Terry York officiating.
Interment will take place in the Simmons Family Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Ernie Schrader, Junebug Ramey, C.E. Massey, Shaw Abney, Chris Bowman, Michael McCarty, Donnie Smith, and Lloyd Nelms.
Honorary pallbearers will be Mike Bunn, Dale Wilson, Eddie Massey, Jerri Massey, Mike Hitcheson, Malcolm Wright, Tony Wright, and Mike Troyer.
A visitation will be held from 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm on Sunday, March 9, at the funeral home.
