Michael DeForest Caldwell, age 81, of Cleveland, TN, went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, January 15, 2026.
Michael was born in LaFayette on August 18, 1944, to the late Garnett DeForest Caldwell and Lecia Agnes Lawrance. He had been a resident of the LaFayette area for the past 24 years and was of the Christian faith.
Michael proudly served his country in the United States Air Force for more than 26 years. Following his military service, he enjoyed a life filled with simple pleasures, including spending time at his favorite fishing spot, painting, and collecting coins. Above all, he was a devoted father, grandfather, and friend whose kindness and faith touched the lives of many. He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.
In addition to his parents, Michael was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Billie Hegwood Caldwell, and his son, Sean Caldwell.
Those left to cherish his memory include his children, William Caldwell, Jeffrey (Tracy) Caldwell, Danielle Caldwell, and Robert Caldwell; along with numerous grandchildren, cousins, and friends.
A graveside service will be held at 1:00 pm on Wednesday, January 21, 2026, at LaFayette Memory Gardens. Arrangements are by Wilson Funeral Home, LaFayette Chapel.
