Mr. Garry Lester VaughnLaFayette

Gary Lester Vaughn age 78, of LaFayette, Georgia, passed away on Tuesday, September 30, 2025, in a local hospital. Born in LaFayette to the late Lester “R.C.” and Gussie Elizabeth Graham Vaughn, Garry spent his early years in the Lakeview community before returning to LaFayette during his sophomore year of high school. He was a former custodian with the Walker County Board of Education at Naomi Elementary and later worked as a truck driver for C & S Poultry (formerly J & J Poultry), where he proudly served for the past several years. Gary loved the outdoors and found joy in hunting, fishing, and gardening. Above all, he cherished spending time with his family, especially attending his grandchildren’s ballgames. He was known for his kind heart, always ready to lend a hand to others. A man of faith, Garry was a member of Woodstation Baptist Church in Catlett, Georgia. He is survived by his loving wife of 56 years, Brenda Kate Ashley Vaughn; their children, Chris (Kellie) Vaughn and Corey Vaughn, both of Rock Spring, GA, and Cayla (Bobby) Thompson of Paris, TX; grandchildren, Laura Beth (Kagen) Tench of Rock Spring, GA, Daniel Vaughn of LaFayette, GA, and Layne Vaughn of Chickamauga, GA; great-grandchildren, McKinley, Annaston, and Rhett Tench, and Olivia Vaughn; sisters, Beverly (Larry) Little of LaFayette, GA, and Cindy (Michael) Cooper of Burning Bush, GA; brothers, Rodney Vaughn and Scott Vaughn, both of Rock Spring, GA; as well as several nieces, nephews, and extended family members. The family will receive friends on Saturday, October 4, 2025, from 12:00 p.m. until 2:45 p.m. at Wilson Funeral Home – LaFayette Chapel. A graveside service will follow at 3:00 p.m. at LaFayette Memory Gardens with Pastor Eddy Rushing officiating. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital or a charity of your choice.
