Mr. Grant ParrishChickamauga

Grant Parrish age 77, of Chickamauga, Georgia went home to be with The Lord Wednesday – May 7, 2025. He was born in Chickamauga, Georgia to the late William Jess and Otha Grant Rainey Parrish. He was a graduate of Gordon Lee Memorial High School – Class of 1965. After graduation he served his country in the U.S. Air Force where he was stationed in Gulf Port, Mississippi, Warner Robbins, Georgia and Korea. He attended Dalton Junior College after his time in the military. He worked for Combustion Engineering, ABB, Alstom and retired from GE, after forty-seven years of employment. Grant was an avid supporter of the Gordon Lee Trojans and served on the Board of Education for Chickamauga City Schools for the past forty-two years where was the current Vice-Chairman. He was a member of Elizabeth Lee Methodist Church. He served on the Credit Union Board on Comtrust Bank in Chattanooga, TN. He enjoyed playing golf, fishing, grilling and loved to travel. He cherished being “Poppy,” loved and supported his grandchildren at Gordon Lee, Darlington, the University of Chattanooga and the University of Georgia. Along with his parents, he is preceded in death by his sister: Wanda Faye Parrish and nephew: Rick Wilson. He is survived by his wife of almost fifty-eight years: Wanda Parrish, daughters: Stacey (David) Blaylock of Chickamauga, GA, Roni (Jared) Willerson of Rome, GA, grandchildren: Grant Blaylock, Hannah (Gabe Zuloaga) Willerson, Maribeth Blaylock, Grace, Will and Kate Willerson, sister: Lynn (Ted) Glenn of LaFayette, GA, brothers:Jay (Sandra) Parrish of Chickamauga, GA, Joe (Kathy) Parrish of Chickamauga, GA, Winfred Parrish of LaFayette, GA, several nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends Friday from 3:00 pm – 8:00 pm and Saturday morning from 11:00 am until 1:00 pm at the funeral home. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 pm – Saturday – May 10, 2025 at Elizabeth Lee Methodist Church with Pastor Zach Fitzpatrick officiating. Burial will follow at Chickamauga Cemetery.
