Jim D. Davis age 84, of Chickamauga, Georgia went home to be with The Lord Tuesday – March 4, 2025. Jim was born in Jasper, Alabama to the late Carl Bebial and Bertha Augusta Williams Davis. He served his country in the United States Marine Corp and was a proud veteran. He was a member of the American Legion – Post 95 in East Ridge, TN. He worked in telecommunications for over forty years, owning his own company: Davis Telecommunications, Inc. in Grandbury, Texas and was the former plant manager of Chickamauga Telephone Company. Jim was baptized at New Friendship Baptist Church in Chickamauga and was a current and active member of the Cowboy Church in LaFayette. Jim was well known throughout many states as a cowboy. He was a former roper in the rodeo circuit, still active in horse and cattle trading, hay seller, and had deep knowledge in horses, ropes and saddles. He was a true horseman, volunteering his knowledge and time to many people to help them ride a horse, rope a steer, buy a trailer, build a saddle and how to take care of animals God entrusted to them. He loved eating good cornbread, singing karaoke anywhere he could and was a master at one liners.
Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of forty-nine years: Donna Mae Carter Davis, son: James Allen Davis, granddaughter: Kaitlin, beloved friend: Ozzie Black, eight sisters and a brother. He is survived by his wife: Pat Massengill Davis of Chickamauga, GA; Jim's children: Jeffrey (Stacie) Davis of Warrior, AL, Tiffanye (Sammy) Mitchell of Jasper, AL, Ken (Bridgett) Kibler of Yale, IL, Melisa (Steve) Hornsby of Chickamauga, GA; Pat's children, Kim (Lamar) Williams of Rocky Face, GA, Tonya (Jeff) Morgan of Walton, KY, sister: Xann Rolo of Jasper, AL, sister-in-law: Linda Davis of Chickamauga, GA, grandchildren: Austin Davis, Casey (Danielle) Hall, Colten (Ashley) Gorrell, Hannah Stoker, great-grandchildren: Gunnar, Welker, Nash, Gus, Tate, Kinsley, Kingston, Kade, several other grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends Friday from 4:00 pm until 8:00 pm and Saturday from 11:00 am until the funeral. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 pm – Saturday – March 8, 2025 in the funeral home chapel with Pastor Randy Hardin officiating. Burial will follow in Chickamauga Cemetery.
