Mr. Robert William BowmanFort Oglethorpe

Robert William “Bill” Bowman age 74, of Fort Oglethorpe, Georgia passed away Sunday, November 23, 2025. He was born in Chattanooga, Tennessee to the late Robert Earl and Katherine “Kitty” Ballew Bowman. Bill was a graduate of Lakeview High School and enlisted in the U.S. Army after graduation. After serving his country, he served his community in Law Enforcement for fifty-six years. He started his career with the Catoosa County Sheriff’s Department, then to Tunnel Hill Police Department, to Chickamauga Police Department, to Ringgold Police Department, to Tri-County/Hutcheson Medical Center Security. He then became the oldest cadet to enter the Georgia State Troopers Academy, served for twenty-six years and retired in 2012. He continued in law enforcement another ten years with Walker County Sheriff’s Department. He was of the Baptist faith and a member of Tompkins Lodge F&AM #466. Along with his parents, he is preceded in death by his sister: Earlene Bailey and brother: GSP-Colonel: Ronnie Bowman. He is survived by his wife of forty-nine years: Deborah Lynn Rhodes Bowman of Fort Oglethorpe, GA, their children: Misty (Robert) Thompson of East Ridge, TN, Jonathan (Kara) Bowman of LaFayette, GA, five grandchildren: Jenny, Autumn, Brittany, Eli and Isaac, several nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends Friday from 11:00 am until 3:00 pm at the funeral home. Funeral service will be held at 3:00 pm – Friday – November 28, 2025 in the funeral home chapel with Minister: Bobby Wallin officiating.
