Mr. Rubin Lydon Lands Jr.
September 25, 1943 - August 6, 2025

Rubin Lydon Lands, Jr., age 81, of LaFayette, Georgia passed away peacefully at his home surrounded by his family Wednesday – August 6, 2025. Rubin was born in Jackson County, Alabama to the late Rubin Lydon Lands, Sr. and Birtia Stover Lands. Rubin was a very gifted man; he could fix just about anything and had many talents. He was skilled in woodworking and restoration of classic vehicles. His favorite restoration was his red 1956 Chevrolet pick-up truck. His family owned and operated Lands Bakery in Rossville for many years. He and his wife owned and operated Village South Bakery in Fort Oglethorpe for many years and also a bakery in Indiana. Rubin prided himself in his skill of baking, especially fried pies. Rubin was also a skilled musician who could play the bass guitar, drums, usually sang lead vocals and did Elvis’s impersonations. He toured with the band Southern Sounds for several years. He also enjoyed being in the great outdoors fishing. He was of the Baptist faith. After touring with bands, working in bakeries, he began a career with Walker County Sheriff’s Department in maintenance, where he became well known and liked for his many talents. He retired in 2020 from the Sheriff’s Department. Along with his parents, he is preceded in death by his daughter and son-in-law: Donna (Mike) Paradise, sister: Shirley Williams, brothers: Fred, Terry and Eddie Lands. He is survived by the love of his life and wife of 54 years: Patricia Ramey Lands, their daughters: Mitzi (Michael) Yancey, Cindy (Mike) Key all of LaFayette, GA, nine grandchildren: Chris (Jenny) Paradise, Jessica Paradise, Derek Ashworth, Taylor (Garrett) McGhee, Tiffany (Cheston) Dodd, Logan Hale, Chloe Hale, Ben Key, Jon Key, great-grandchildren: Makenzie, Abby, Emily, Azlynn, Ruby Grace, Kamden, Elisha, several special nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends Monday from 11:00 AM until 12:30 PM at the funeral home. Graveside services will be held at 1:00 PM – Monday – August 11, 2025 at Tennessee-Georgia Memorial Park in Rossville, Georgia with Chris Paradise officiating.
