Stephen Edwin “Ed” Jones age 81, passed away Saturday – July 5, 2025. Ed was born in Ooltewah, Tennessee to the late Stephen Brawley and Anna Irene Varnell Jones. For the past four years he resided at the Canopy at Boynton and previously had been a lifelong resident of Ooltewah, Tennessee. He was a longtime member of Silverdale Baptist Church in Chattanooga, where he had attended and served faithfully for many years. Along with his parents, he is preceded in death by his wife: Susan Carol Brown Jones. Ed is survived by his son: Terry Lee (Jenny) Williams, Jr., of Ringgold, GA, daughter: Carrie Elaine (Rev. Matt) Hinesley of Zebulon, GA, grandchildren: Maggie Caroline Williams, Terry Lee (Ty) Williams, III, Hayden Hinesley, Molly Elizabeth Williams, Maddie Hinesley, several nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends at Silverdale Baptist Church in the Student Ministry Building from 11:00 am – 1:00 pm on Friday – July 11, 2025 with a funeral service at 1:00 p.m. with Reverend Matt Hinesley and Brian Squires officiating. A private burial will follow in the Varnell Family Cemetery in Ooltewah, Tennessee.
