Mr. William Aubrey Long
February 5, 1927 - April 22, 2025
William Aubrey Long, of Rossville, Georgia went home to be with The Lord Tuesday, April 22, 2025. He was a pioneer of Lookout Mountain, Georgia and celebrated his 98th birthday this past February. Aubrey was born on February 5, 1927 to the late William Alonza and Isabell Jackson Long. He was a former employee of John Clark of Lookout Mountain for many years before being self-employed. He was a contractor and built many homes on Lookout Mountain, Northwest Georgia and the Chattanooga area. He bought his first piece of land for $400.00 at age twelve, with his mother co-signing a bank note with him. He sold it two months later for $1,200.00, put the money in the bank and never spent it. To say he was frugal would be an understatement. He received Christ as his Savior in his late thirties and loved The Lord. He was a member of Shiloh Baptist Church in Rossville, Georgia for the past forty-six years. Along with his parents, he is preceded in death by his wife: Joan Faye Thomas Long. He is survived by his daughter and son-in-law: Glynis and Daniel Brown of Rossville, Georgia. Per Aubrey’s request, a graveside service will be held in the morning for folks to be able to get lunch afterwards and get on with their day. Graveside service will be at 10:00 am – Tuesday – April 29, 2025 at Forest Hills Cemetery in St. Elmo, Tennessee with Pastor Derrell O’Neal officiating. Arrangements are by W.L.
