Mr. William DeZoortChickamauga

William “Bill” DeZoort age 84, of Chickamauga, Georgia passed away at his home peacefully on Sunday – May 11, 2025. He was born in Patterson, New Jersey to the late William and Lavinia Judge DeZoort. Bill served his country in the United States Coast Guard and was a proud veteran. He was a graduate of Southern Tech where he earned his Industrial Engineering Degree. He retired from Coats and Clarks Company, where he specialized in industrial engineering. After retirement, he enjoyed building custom furniture. Bill had resided in Decatur, Albany and Macon, Georgia before moving to Chickamauga in 1984. Bill attended Lookout Baptist Church in High Point, Georgia. He enjoyed woodworking, hunting, fishing, traveling out west and was an avid Georgia Bulldawgs fan. Bill was a perfectionist in anything he did and was known for his hearty laugh and contagious smile. Along with his parents, he is preceded in death by his sisters: Sadie Havele, Dr. Edith DeZoort, MD., brother: Dr. Frank DeZoort PHD. Bill is survived by his devoted wife of sixty-one years: Mrs. Barbara Nell Kidd DeZoort of Chickamauga, GA, their children: William Sean (Rhonda) DeZoort of Forsythe, GA, Ashley (Wesley) Moore of Rock Spring, GA, David Layton (Amanda) DeZoort of Bakersville, N.C., five granddaughters: Macey, Chloe, Emmie, Abbie, Sophie, great-grandson: William Roper, several nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends Friday from 12 noon until 1:00 pm. Funeral services will follow at 1:00 pm – Friday – May 16, 2025, in the funeral home chapel with Pastor Terry Burns and W.
