Mr. William A. “Lonnie” Catlett, Jr., age 76 of Griffin, Georgia passed away Saturday, May 24, 2025, at his home. Lonnie was born in Chattanooga, Tennessee to the late William A. “Jack” Catlett and Edna Newsome Catlett. He grew up in Chickamauga, Georgia, where his roots were strong and deep. Lonnie graduated from Gordon Lee Memorial High School, where he played football. He attended Fellowship Baptist Church throughout his childhood and is a member of Peavine Baptist Church in Rock Spring. He was an Eagle Scout. He attended Georgia State University until he enlisted in the Army. His parents taught and expected their sons to be good citizens and people, and they were not disappointed. Lonnie proudly served in the Army in Korea, where he made life-long friends. He and his brother owned a mobile home sales and service company together for many years. Lonnie then worked at Lowe’s in several different area locations, retiring after 21 years in 2010. He and his brother developed Saddle Ridge Subdivision in Rock Spring, Georgia, on the old Catlett homeplace. Along with his parents, he is preceded in death by cousins: G.A. “Bo” Newsome and Steve Ivey. Survivors include his wife: Terry Warren Catlett; son: Brent (Chelsea) Turk; grandsons: Wyatt and Lucas Turk; brother: Jimmy (Myrt) Catlett; cousins: Kathy Talley, Joy Denton, Melinda Ivey, Melissa Newsome, Judy Newsome, Candy Ford; and several nieces and nephews. When the grandchildren came along, Lonnie and Terry relocated to Sun City Peachtree in Griffin, Georgia to be nearer to them. He enjoyed years of golf, new friendships, and other activities before he became ill. The family will receive friends on Thursday, June 5, 2025, from 1:00 to 4:00 pm. at Wilson Funeral Home in Chickamauga, Georgia. A military memorial service to honor Lonnie will be held at the Chattanooga National Cemetery on June 6, 2025, at 10:30 am. Arrangements by Wilson Funeral Homes – Chickamauga, Georgia.
