Mrs. Dorothy Jean ForsytheChickamauga

Dorothy “Dottie” Jean Howard Forsythe age 80, of Chickamauga, Georgia went home to be with The Lord Monday evening, April 14, 2025. She was born in Jackson County, Alabama to the late John Cole and Dorothy Ruth (Howard) Gass. She was a former employee of Marmode Hosiery Mill, Equifax and Hamilton County Criminal Court District. Dottie and her husband: Thurman worked with Wilson Funeral Homes for over twenty-three years together. She was a member of Faith Baptist Church in Ringgold for the past several years. Along with her parents, she is preceded in death by her grandparents who raised her: James Pearl and Sarah Lily Howard and her daughter: Anita Deanna Forsythe. Dottie is survived by her husband of sixty-six years: William “Thurman” Forsythe of Chickamauga, GA, daughters: Gwendolyn Denise (Randy) Parker of Ringgold, GA, Rhonda Jean (Arvil) Shown of Chattanooga, TN, sisters: Mildred Imogene Kirby of Tullahoma, TN, Gloria Sue Fulton of Soddy Daisy, TN, brothers: James Elvin Gass of Wildwood, GA, Dennis Levon (Janice) Gass of Fort Oglethorpe, GA, grandchildren: Anna Nicole Parker, Hunter Jade (Megan) Shown, Cherrish Denae (Ryan) Henderson, great-grandchildren: Wyatt Lowell Poteet, Jericho Samuel Jade Shown, Eliana Belle Shown, Emmett Cooper Franklin Shown, several nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends Wednesday and Thursday from 4:00 pm until 8:00 pm and 12 noon until the funeral on Friday at the funeral home. Funeral service will be held at 2:00 pm – Friday – April 18, 2025 in the chapel with Pastor Randy Chestnut and Pastor Jimmy Thomasson officiating. Burial will follow in LaFayette Memory Gardens.
