Mrs. Jacklynn Denise Payne
July 15, 1970 - March 8, 2025

Jacklynn “Jackie” Denise Denny Payne age 54, of Rock Spring, Georgia, passed away on Saturday, March 8, 2025. Jackie was born in Fort Oglethorpe, Georgia to the late Eugene “Jack” Jackson Denny, Jr. and Linda “Gail” Strickland Denny. Jackie graduated from LaFayette High School – Class of 1988. She furthered her education at Dalton State College where she earned her bachelor’s degree. She was currently working with NTT Data as a project manager and attending Center Grove Baptist Church. Jackie had served as Troop Leader with the Girl Scouts. She enjoyed gardening, going to concerts, estate sales and thrifting. Along with her parents, Jackie is preceded in death by her husband: Russell David Payne. Jackie passed from this life together with her father. Jackie is survived by her children: Joshua (Sloan) Payne of Madison, AL, Ashley Payne of Cookeville, TN, brother: Kevin (fiancée: Tammy Bates) Denny of Rock Spring, GA, grandchildren: Channing and Carter Payne of Madison, AL, nieces: Madison (Will) Ingram, Mattie Payne, nephews: Austin (Zoe) Denny, Aaron Payne, great nephews: Beckett and Henry Denny, cousins: David and John Denny. In Josh’s words: My mother was the most beautiful woman inside and out. She always told us we could do anything we set our minds too, the sky was the limit. She treated everyone with love and respect, and she raised me to believe that there are angels walking on this earth and you never knew who was an angel so you better be kind to everyone, she would always tell me. The next day after her tragic death I was sitting in her office and I got a phone call on her phone, the caller id said “random kid walking down the street/hard worker” so I answered it and told him what had happened. He said my mom picked him up one day because he was walking to work and he would call if he ever needed a ride to work, and he would also help out with chores around the house in exchange for the rides. Thats exactly the type of person my mom was, she treated everyone the same no matter what their status in life was! Her legacy will live on in Ashley and Myself. We learned a lot from her and we will miss her more than anyone can imagine. We used to listen to Elvis growing up and I’m a huge fan because of her, and I think this last quote from the song “And I Love You So” by Elvis Presley sums up how we feel. “The book of life is brief, and once the page is read all but love is dead. This is my belief. And yes, I know how lonely life can be, the shadows follow me and the night won’t set me free. But I don’t let the evening get me down, now that you’re free”. The family will receive friends from 2:00 pm until 4:00 pm and 6:00 pm until 8:00 pm Friday – March 14, 2025 at the funeral home. The family will also receive friends Saturday at the church prior to the funeral services from 12 noon until 2:00 pm. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday – March 15, 2025 at Center Grove Baptist Church in Rock Spring, Georgia with Pastors David Brown and Kevin Cantrell officiating.
