Mrs. Peggy Joyce Hall Layne

Mrs. Peggy Joyce Hall Layne age 82, of Dalton, Georgia passed away peacefully surrounded by family on Tuesday, May 21, 2024. Peggy was born in Ellijay, Georgia on April 15, 1942. She was brought to Dalton when she was six months old and was raised here. She graduated from Dalton High School in 1960. Her dad was in the Army and stationed in the Philippines. Peggy attended Edmondson School of Business and Walker Technical Institute. She was married to James R. Layne in 1962. They lived in the Ringgold and Fort Oglethorpe area for about twenty-six years. Peggy lived there another four years after James died in 1989. Peggy is was a retired secretary for a Fort Oglethorpe auto parts place and cashier for Lowes. Peggy enjoyed her time spent in the clothing room at the Central Church of Christ and with her CARE group. Her hobbies are walking, reading and Hook & Latch.
She is preceded in death by her husband, James Richard Layne; parents, James Hall and Dorothy Joyce Hall; brothers, Chris Hall and James Hall.
Peggy is survived by her daughter, Kimberly (Benny) Chambers of Cohutta, Georgia; one granddaughter, Gabriel (Christian) Skelly; great grandchildren, Lilith Joyce Skelly and Laiken Warren Skelly; close friends, Lindy Hammontree and Shirley Davenport.
The family will receive friends from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Thursday and on Friday until the time of service at the funeral home. Funeral services will be held at 12:00 p.m., Friday, May 24, 2024 in the funeral home chapel. Burial will follow in Burning Bush Baptist Church Cemetery.
